Chicago police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman found in an alley on the South Side over the weekend.
The victim, identified by family as 36-year-old Kiara Jenkins, was discovered unresponsive around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 6400 block of South Drexel Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jenkins was a mother of five and would have celebrated her 37th birthday this Sunday. Her family described her as deeply religious and devoted to her church. At the time of the shooting, she was reportedly leaving her home.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing by Area 1 detectives. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department.
