Parents Arrested After Toddler Found Wandering in Street by School Bus Driver in Southern California

A mother and father in Southern California were arrested on suspicion of child abuse and other crimes after a school bus driver found their toddler wandering in the street, authorities reported Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, when the driver spotted the unattended 2-year-old and stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.

Deputies determined the child lived on Taylor Street in Loma Linda and conducted a welfare check at the residence, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

“During the welfare check, deputies observed multiple firearms and narcotics within reach of the 2-year-old child and several older siblings,” the department stated.

The child’s father was identified as 34-year-old Dantion Green McGuire, and the mother as 36-year-old Monae Myers.

Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant based on what they observed in the home, leading to the arrest of McGuire and Myers.

Both were booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. The charges they face include child abuse, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and animal cruelty. Additional details about the charges were not released.
