Man sentenced to 3 years for fatal hit-and-run on Buck Owens Blvd.

Floyd Luster was sentenced to three years in state prison for a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Antonio Enrique Arjona, 41, of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County court website.

Court records show Luster accepted a plea deal last October for a hit-and-run that resulted in death or serious bodily injury.

Bakersfield police arrested 61-year-old Floyd Luster on January 9, 2025, on a felony hit-and-run charge.

The crash happened on March 29, 2024, just before 9:30 p.m., when officers found Arjona with severe injuries in the 3200 block of Buck Owens Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.

Police said Luster was driving a white hatchback northbound when he struck Arjona, who was in the roadway outside of a crosswalk.

Investigators said Luster fled the scene but was later identified through information gathered during the investigation. He was arrested on Jan. 9, 2025.

Court records also indicate Luster failed to appear for his initial sentencing on January 8, 2026. A warrant was issued, and he was taken back into custody on Jan. 20, 2026.
