27 Fall Ill After Gastrointestinal Outbreak on Regent Seven Seas Cruise Departing Miami, CDC Says

A gastrointestinal illness outbreak aboard a luxury cruise ship sailing out of Miami has left 27 people sick, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Centers for Disease ControlĀ  said six of those affected were crew members. The outbreak occurred on a Regent Seven Seas cruise that traveled from Miami to Honolulu between January 11 and February 1.

Health officials reported that the first cases were identified on January 29. The exact cause of the illness has not yet been determined, and the CDC has not provided updates on the current condition of those who became ill.

In response to the outbreak, the cruise line implemented isolation measures for sick individuals and enhanced sanitation efforts throughout the ship, the CDC said.

This marks the first cruise ship illness outbreak reported by the CDC in 2026.
