Man Arrested in Multi-County Burglary Investigation Across West Virginia and Ohio

Police arrested a Wood County man Friday in connection with a burglary and firearms investigation that spans West Virginia and Ohio.

Joshua Michael McGee, 42, of Vienna faces two counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, and six counts of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm following an investigation that began in November, according to a news release from the Parkersburg Police Department.

The department said officers partnered with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department in Ohio to investigate a series of burglaries and breaking and entering cases that appeared linked to incidents in West Virginia.

One case involved a break-in at a residence on the south side of Parkersburg in November, where several firearms were reported stolen.

During the investigation, detectives collected surveillance footage, conducted interviews, carried out search warrants to recover stolen property, obtained digital evidence through additional warrants, and performed surveillance operations. Authorities said these efforts ultimately led to McGee’s arrest.

Police accused McGee of involvement in the South Parkersburg burglary, a North Parkersburg burglary on Thursday, and an attempted burglary at the same residence on Friday before officers took him into custody.

Authorities also sought him in connection with an attempted burglary in Vienna.

Because of a previous felony drug conviction in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, McGee was prohibited from possessing firearms, resulting in the prohibited person charges, according to the release.

McGee is being held on a $225,000 bond. Officials did not provide details about potential charges in Ohio.
