Logan County man accused of detaining three people against their will

A Logan County man was arrested this week after troopers said they found him holding three people, including a young child, against their will.

Tony Ritchie Jr., 38, of Chapmanville faces three counts of unlawful restraint following a compliance check and subsequent search warrant at his home Tuesday, according to a news release from West Virginia State Police.

Troopers said they were assisting parole officers with a compliance check when Ritchie began refusing to cooperate. During the visit, officers discovered two adult women and a 3-year-old boy inside a bedroom.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the residence and eventually took Ritchie into custody.

According to the news release, Ritchie allegedly kept the three individuals from leaving by blocking the doorway and preventing their exit.

In addition to the new charges, troopers said Ritchie is also facing multiple parole violations connected to the incident. He is currently being held at Southwestern Regional Jail.
