78-year-old Hesperia man arrested for alleged stalking, harassment of mother and child

A 78-year-old man from Hesperia has been arrested on suspicion of stalking and harassing a woman and her 5-year-old child in San Bernardino County.

The suspect, Raymond Macias, was taken into custody following an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies began looking into reports that Macias had been harassing and following female victims while they were riding local buses. Security personnel at the Victor Valley Transportation Center told authorities that a man had been trailing women from various bus stops across the High Desert to the transit center in Victorville.

Investigators said Macias was also accused of attempting to persuade victims to get into his vehicle, described as a red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

After identifying the suspect, deputies located and arrested Macias on Feb. 16. He was booked on suspicion of stalking and annoying or molesting a child under 18.

The sheriff’s department released photos of Macias and his vehicle in an effort to identify any additional potential victims or witnesses.
