A teenage boy is recovering after being shot while trying to escape an armed robbery late Monday night in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the 12700 block of South Wentworth Avenue.
Police said a 16-year-old boy was walking in the area when he was approached by two unknown males. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and demanded the teen’s belongings.
Authorities said the victim attempted to run from the suspects but heard gunshots and felt pain as he fled. The teen sustained gunshot wounds to both legs.
Officers became aware of the shooting after the victim walked into a hospital in the Roseland neighborhood seeking treatment. He was later admitted in fair condition.
No arrests have been made, and Area detectives are investigating.
