A Raleigh County man has been charged with murder after authorities say he fatally shot a security guard at a southern West Virginia resort.
According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Monday to a reported shooting at the guard shack at The Resort at Glade Springs near Beckley.
When deputies arrived, they found a security guard suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Authorities identified the suspect as Michael Lloyd Taylor, 60, of Piney View. He was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
Taylor is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The investigation remains ongoing. Officials have not released details about what led to the shooting.
