CHICAGO — A 34-year-old man was shot Sunday night at the 35th Street Red Line station on the city’s South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Police said the man was riding a southbound Red Line train when he became involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown suspect. The suspect exited the train onto the platform and then fired a shot, striking the victim in the buttocks.
Authorities said it remains unclear whether the victim was on the train or standing on the platform when he was shot.
The suspect fled the scene. The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
Police said the victim delayed reporting the shooting, which investigators believe occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.
No arrests have been made. Detectives are investigating, and anyone with information is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip through CPD’s tip line website cpdtip.com.
