A shooting Monday night in Pasadena left a police officer wounded and a suspect dead, authorities said.
Officers responded around 7:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the Sierra Madre Villa station on Halstead Street, according to Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Additional officers located a man matching the suspect’s description near the intersection of Sierra Madre Villa Avenue and Del Vina Street.
Police said the suspect fled and then exchanged gunfire with officers, striking one officer during the confrontation.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene in a nearby neighborhood.
The wounded officer was transported to a hospital, where they underwent emergency surgery. As of Tuesday morning, the officer was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Authorities have not released the names of the suspect or the injured officer. The investigation remains ongoing.
