Benton Harbor Man Arrested in Michigan Drug Trafficking Bust

A two-month investigation into drug trafficking in Southwest Michigan led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Benton Harbor man and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs.

On November 25, detectives from the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Tactical Response Unit executed search warrants at the COGIC Village Apartments on Territorial Road. Authorities seized 86 grams of methamphetamine, 33 grams of a fentanyl-heroin mix, a digital scale, and other materials linked to drug distribution.

The suspect was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin, maintaining a drug house, and tampering with evidence. He was booked into the Berrien County Jail.

Officials noted that in Southwest Michigan, fatal drug overdoses claim more lives each year than car crashes and homicides combined. SWET’s operation is funded in part by the Michigan HIDTA program and the U.S. Department of Justice Byrne JAG grant.

For substance use treatment, local residents are encouraged to contact Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health at 800-781-0353.
