A 23-year-old driver was killed early Sunday morning after their vehicle crashed into a tow truck along Interstate 96 in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 3 a.m. on March 8 on eastbound I-96 near Outer Drive. Investigators believe the driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle before striking the rear of a tow truck’s flatbed.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the sedan blocking the middle lane of the highway while the tow truck had come to a stop on the left shoulder.
The 23-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the person’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
The tow truck driver was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Police said the driver’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
State police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
