Rescue Crews Save Person and Dog from Laurel River Lake in Southeast Kentucky

Emergency crews rescued a person and a dog from Laurel River Lake on Saturday night after both ended up in the water.

According to officials, the London-Laurel County 911 Center received a call around 7:30 p.m. reporting that a person had jumped into the lake from East City Dam Road to rescue a dog that had also entered the water.

Units from the Laurel County Rescue Squad and local responders from London arrived at the scene. Crews used a RescueONE boat and rope equipment to reach both the person and the dog.

Rescuers safely removed them from the water and transported them by boat to emergency medical services personnel.

Additional assistance at the scene was provided by the Corbin Fire Department and the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department.
