A driver in Grass Lake was arrested for suspected drunken driving following a rollover crash that he claimed was caused by a road rage confrontation.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:06 p.m. on March 14 to a single-vehicle crash along Grass Lake Road near Barber Road.
Driver claims road rage led to crash
Authorities said the driver told investigators he had been involved in a road rage situation moments before the crash.
According to his account, another motorist stopped ahead of him, exited their vehicle and stood in the roadway holding a crowbar. The driver claimed he swerved to avoid the individual, lost control of his vehicle and rolled into a ditch.
Arrest made at the scene
Despite the driver’s explanation, deputies determined he was impaired and arrested him for operating while intoxicated (first offense).
No injuries were reported in the crash.
Investigation ongoing
Officials have not confirmed whether the alleged road rage incident involved another individual or if additional suspects are being sought.
The incident remains under investigation.
