Police in Lapeer are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at a local apartment complex, leaving one man dead and another in custody.
Officers responded around 1 a.m. on March 18 to the Silver Maple Village apartments on Dewey Street, where they discovered a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to authorities.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 28-year-old suspect was quickly located and arrested shortly after the incident. He is currently being held at the Lapeer County Jail as investigators continue to review the case.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and the case will be forwarded to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
Police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
