A celebration in Miami Beach took a violent turn when an argument between two friends escalated into a stabbing incident, according to police.
Authorities say Olajuwon Dickerson, 32, from Massachusetts, was arrested following the altercation, which occurred early Sunday morning during a bachelor party weekend.
Investigators report that the two men were spending time along Ocean Drive when tensions arose over interactions with women they had met earlier in the evening. The disagreement quickly intensified into a physical confrontation.
Police allege Dickerson stabbed his friend in the abdomen during the fight. The injured man told officers he acted in self-defense by stabbing Dickerson in return.
Emergency responders transported both individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment. While the other man was later released, Dickerson remained hospitalized and appeared in court remotely before being taken into custody after receiving medical clearance.
He is currently being held without bond.
