A 30-year-old man from Olive Hill died after crashing his vehicle while fleeing from Kentucky State Police during a pursuit Saturday night.
Pursuit Details
Authorities identified the driver as Donavan Kyle Porter.
The incident began around 8:45 p.m. on March 21 in Bath County when a trooper attempted to stop Porter for speeding. Instead of pulling over, he accelerated, prompting a police chase.
Porter exited Interstate 64 at Exit 133 and continued onto KY 801, where the first pursuit was briefly terminated after officers lost sight of his vehicle.
Second Attempt and Crash
Around 9 p.m., a trooper spotted Porter again and initiated a second stop, but he fled once more.
Shortly after, near KY 801 and KY 519, Porter lost control of his Chevrolet Camaro, veered off the road, struck a utility pole, and the vehicle caught fire.
Fatal Outcome
Troopers attempted to rescue Porter from the burning vehicle but were unsuccessful.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was later transported to Frankfort for an autopsy.
Investigation Ongoing
The crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Critical Response Team.
