A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a teenage girl following an ATV crash in Perry County last month, authorities said.
Arrest and Charges
Officials with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office arrested Noah Back, of Vicco, on Saturday.
Investigators, along with Commonwealth Attorney John Hansen, determined there was probable cause that Back showed “extreme indifference to human life,” leading to the death of Emilynn Clark.
Crash Details
The incident occurred on Feb. 28 along Oakwood Avenue in Vicco.
- Clark, 16, was a passenger on an ATV
- The vehicle was driven by another 16-year-old girl
- The driver lost control, and the ATV went over an embankment
Two adult men were also riding on the ATV at the time. Authorities later confirmed that Back was the owner of the ATV.
Other Charges and Investigation
The teenage driver, whose identity has not been released, has been charged with DUI.
Officials are still investigating:
- Who supplied alcohol involved in the incident
- Evidence from Back’s cellphone through search warrants
Social services and the Perry County School District are also conducting separate reviews, as one of the men involved had volunteered as a basketball coach.
Autopsy Findings
A preliminary autopsy found that Clark was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of her death.
Custody Status
Back was booked into the Kentucky River Regional Jail following his arrest.
