Man Found Hiding Under Log Arrested After Fleeing Police in Lapeer County

A 56-year-old man was arrested in Lapeer County after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop and later being found hiding in the woods under a log.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers attempted to stop the driver around 8:30 p.m. on March 21 near Brandon Road and Oneil Road in Kenockee Township.

Suspect Ran From Traffic Stop

Authorities said the driver pulled into a private driveway, stopped the vehicle, and then ran away on foot, prompting a search operation.

Troopers requested additional support, and a K-9 unit along with a drone team from Port Huron Police Department assisted in locating the suspect.

Located in Woods After Search

After a coordinated search, officers found the man hiding beneath a log in a nearby wooded area. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Facing Multiple Charges

Police said the suspect had several outstanding warrants and is accused of operating while intoxicated (OWI). Investigators also revealed he had five prior OWI convictions and a revoked driver’s license.

The man was lodged in the St. Clair County Jail as the case moves forward.
