Authorities are investigating the death of a female inmate at the Genesee County Jail, officials confirmed Thursday.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office announced the incident on March 26, though details surrounding the exact timing of the woman’s death while in custody have not yet been disclosed.

Sheriff Chris Swanson stated that preliminary findings do not indicate any suspicious circumstances.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we are working with the family during this most difficult time,” Swanson said in a public statement.
