A tense water rescue unfolded off the coast of Fort Myers Beach after a pontoon boat carrying 11 people overturned, prompting a swift response from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday when emergency crews received reports of a capsized boat. Deputies from the Marine Unit rushed to the scene, arriving within just three minutes of the initial call.
All Passengers Rescued Safely
By the time responders reached the location, all 11 individuals who had been thrown into the water were successfully pulled to safety. Officials credited both first responders and nearby good Samaritans for the rapid rescue efforts.
Two people sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The remaining passengers escaped without harm.
