Los Angeles, CA — A suspect accused of stabbing a woman in downtown Los Angeles has been arrested, and authorities say he is also connected to a homicide that occurred at a homeless encampment last year.
Suspect Identified in Multiple Violent Incidents
Police have identified the suspect as Kenneth Gibson, 39, who was taken into custody following an alleged stabbing attack on a 70-year-old woman. The incident occurred near Grand Hope Park, where the victim was reportedly attacked while walking along the sidewalk.
Gibson has since been booked on charges of attempted murder, according to official records.
Ties to 2025 Homeless Encampment Killing
Law enforcement sources revealed that Gibson was previously named in a bulletin as a suspect in a May 23, 2025 homicide near the Eighth Street on-ramp to the 110 Freeway. The victim in that case was identified as Byron Fuentes, 48, by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Authorities also noted that Gibson had an outstanding parole warrant at the time of his recent arrest.
