Gun Discharge During Saline Dispute May Have Been Accidental, Police Say

SALINE, Mich. — Authorities are investigating whether a gun was accidentally fired during a late-night altercation outside an assisted living facility in Saline.

Police responded around 11:40 p.m. to a disturbance at Linden Square Senior Care, according to the Saline Police Department.

Altercation Escalates in Parking Lot

Officials said a 26-year-old woman was leaving work when she was confronted by three individuals — two women and a man — in the parking lot.

The confrontation escalated into a physical fight involving the three women. At some point during the struggle, a firearm was discharged.

Police Unsure if Shot Was Intentional

Investigators believe one of the female suspects fired the weapon, but it remains unclear whether the discharge was intentional.

Police confirmed the firearm owner had a valid concealed pistol license.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage before submitting findings to prosecutors.

One Person Injured, Suspects Arrested

The 26-year-old woman sustained injuries during the altercation and was transported to a hospital. She has since been released.

The two other women, ages 28 and 21, left the scene but later contacted police. They were arrested in Pittsfield Township.

The male suspect fled the area and remains at large.

Weapon Recovered, Investigation Ongoing

Police recovered the firearm involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the sequence of events.

Second Shooting Raises Safety Concerns

This marks the second gun-related incident near the facility in recent years. In 2023, a woman was fatally shot outside the same location.

Police officials say the repeated incidents raise concerns about safety in the area.
