Louisiana Mass Shooting: 8 Children Killed in Shreveport Domestic Violence Attack

A devastating mass shooting in Shreveport has left eight children dead after a gunman opened fire at multiple homes early Sunday morning, according to police.

Authorities said the victims, ranging in age from just 1 to 14 years old, were among 10 people shot in what investigators believe was a domestic violence-related incident. Some of the children were reportedly related to the suspect.

Officers responded to the shooting scenes, which spanned multiple locations south of downtown. Officials described the case as one of the most tragic and complex incidents the city has ever faced.

“This is an extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen,” said police spokesperson Chris Bordelon.

After the shootings, the suspect fled the area, allegedly carjacking a vehicle before leading police on a pursuit. The chase ended in nearby Bossier City, where officers fatally shot the gunman. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

Police confirmed this is the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in more than two years, based on national tracking data.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and seeing the suspect flee. One nearby resident said surveillance footage captured the suspect running from a home moments after shots were fired.

At a press briefing, Wayne Smith said the tragedy has left the community in shock. “I cannot begin to imagine how such an event could occur,” he stated.

Tom Arceneaux also called the incident one of the worst tragedies in the city’s history, urging the community to come together during the difficult time.

The Louisiana State Police has joined the investigation and is asking the public to share any photos, videos, or information that could assist detectives.

Leaders, including Jeff Landry and Mike Johnson, expressed condolences and praised the response of law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full timeline of events.
