A 39-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking a man in Garfield Township, near Traverse City.
Authorities say Michelle Lee McGrath is accused of beating a 57-year-old man and stabbing him at least seven times during the April 14, incident. The victim reportedly suffered severe injuries to his face, chest, ribs and hand.
Despite the attack, the man managed to reach a nearby Meijer store, where he sought help. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
McGrath was arraigned in court, where her bond was set at $250,000 cash surety. She is expected to appear in court again on May 1 as the case moves forward.
