Fort Worth Elderly Exploitation Case Expands as Victim Claims $150K Loss: “I Thought He Was Helping Me”

An investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department into suspected financial exploitation has widened, with authorities urging more potential victims to come forward after multiple complaints surfaced.

Police say the case, which initially began as a probe into stolen vehicle parts, now centers around 24-year-old Cartaveion Demarcus Holmon, also known as “Tank.” Investigators allege Holmon may have used deceptive tactics involving solar panel services and vehicle transactions to exploit victims financially.

Victim Speaks Out: “I Trusted Him”

One victim, identified only as Kathy, shared her experience, describing how she was left in severe financial distress after trusting Holmon.

“I thought he was helping me fix my credit, but that’s not what happened,” she said.

Kathy estimates her total losses—including damage tied to her home—at around $150,000.

Solar Panel Deal Turns Costly

According to Kathy, she and her husband, a Vietnam veteran, invested roughly $60,000 in residential solar panels. However, the system reportedly failed to function properly.

She said the original salesperson later introduced Holmon, who claimed he could resolve the issue. Instead, Kathy alleges the situation worsened.

“He said he could fix everything, but nothing got better,” she explained.

Alleged Fraud Expands Beyond Solar Services

Kathy claims Holmon later offered to help repair her credit, gaining her trust and access to her personal information. She says he took her to multiple locations under the pretense of resolving credit issues.

Soon after, she began receiving bills for multiple financial obligations she says she never authorized—including loans, vehicles, and even an RV.

“I don’t even drive,” Kathy said, highlighting the confusion and distress caused by the alleged fraud.

Financial Fallout and Housing Struggles

The impact has been devastating. Kathy says a lien was placed on her longtime home, which she was close to paying off. Her credit score also dropped significantly, making it difficult to secure housing.

“We barely got an apartment under my husband’s name,” she said.

She is now working to rebuild her financial stability.

Police Identify Multiple Victims

Authorities confirmed that Holmon has been arrested and charged with exploitation of the elderly. Investigators say at least four victims have been identified so far, with additional cases emerging in recent days.

Police believe there may be more individuals affected and are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Call for Public Assistance

The Fort Worth Police Department is encouraging potential victims to contact Detective Crain as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, records indicate that Holmon’s business, Holmon’s Solar LLC, holds an “A” rating with the Better Business Bureau, though it is not officially accredited.
