A shooting on the East Side of Saginaw left two people hospitalized Monday evening, with one suspect now in custody, police said.
Victims found near library
Officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the Hoyt Public Library on Janes Avenue.
At the scene, they found:
- A 30-year-old man
- A 23-year-old woman
Both had suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to a local hospital. Authorities said their injuries are not life-threatening.
Shooting traced to nearby home
Investigators later determined the victims were actually shot at a residence on South 19th Street, about a mile away from the library.
Police responded to that location and arrested a 34-year-old man without incident. He has been booked into the Saginaw County Jail on a charge of assault with intent to murder.
His identity has not yet been released pending arraignment.
What led to the shooting
Authorities said the individuals involved had been in an argument prior to the shooting. A specific motive has not been disclosed.
