Amtrak Train Strikes Car Near Congress Park Metra Station; BNSF Trains Delayed

Metra BNSF trains were delayed Tuesday evening after an Amtrak train struck a vehicle near the Congress Park Metra Station in Brookfield, Illinois.

The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. Authorities have not said what caused the collision or whether anyone was injured.

Both inbound and outbound BNSF trains were stopped following the crash. Service resumed around 7 p.m., but trains continued running with significant delays, according to Metra.

The incident happened one day after a BNSF train hit another vehicle in Hinsdale. In that case, the 80-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
