A Tampa man was arrested after officers said he set his own home on fire and fired shots at a neighbor’s house. Officers responded to the 2500 block of W Union St. on Monday after reports that someone had set their own home on fire.
The suspect, Wali Clanton, 50, was arrested, and officers recovered his firearms.
Clanton faces charges of criminal mischief, first-degree arson of a structure, shooting at, within, or into a building, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Tampa police officers had also responded to the same neighborhood on Friday after a man was shot.
What we don’t know:
Investigators are looking into whether the incidents are connected, but TPD has not confirmed any link.
The victim in Friday’s shooting was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
