Fourteen individuals were arrested following a law enforcement operation aimed at addressing illegal lodging, squatting, and active arrest warrants in the Kern River Valley, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The targeted enforcement action took place on January 27, 2026, as part of an ongoing effort to protect public safety and enforce state laws related to unauthorized lodging on public and private property.
Deputies arrested 14 people for violations connected to unlawful squatting and outstanding warrants. Those taken into custody included individuals from Bakersfield, Los Angeles County, Lake Isabella, and other surrounding areas.
All suspects were booked into the Kern County Jail on charges related to illegal lodging and active arrest warrants.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said it remains committed to maintaining community safety and will continue enforcing laws that safeguard public lands and private property.
