A Kentucky man who won a massive Powerball jackpot in 2025 is facing new legal trouble after being accused of burglary and theft, marking his fourth arrest in less than a year since claiming his prize.
Burglary Allegations and Arrest Details
James Farthing, 51, of Georgetown, Kentucky, was arrested on March 28 after allegedly breaking into a residence and stealing $12,000, according to reports. Authorities say the homeowner spotted Farthing entering the property without permission through a security camera system. The missing cash was discovered shortly afterward.
Police later located Farthing in a nearby parking lot, where he was found inside his vehicle. During the investigation, officers reportedly discovered marijuana, leading to additional charges.
Farthing was taken into custody and charged with burglary and possession of marijuana. He was released the following day after posting a $10,000 cash bond.

The latest arrest adds to a growing list of legal incidents involving Farthing since he won a staggering $167 million Powerball jackpot on April 26, 2025.

In February 2026, he was arrested again and charged with intimidating a participant in a legal process. He is scheduled to appear in court for that case on April 2.

Farthing also faces charges related to a November 2025 hit-and-run crash, including wanton endangerment and failure to stop and provide aid. Authorities allege he left the scene without assisting those involved.
