MIAMI-DADE, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old in southwest Miami-Dade on Friday evening, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire near Southwest 282nd Street and 125th Avenue around 6 p.m., where they discovered a teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Trashawn Foster, was transported to a nearby hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue but later died from his injuries.
Two Individuals Detained for Questioning
Investigators say a dark-colored vehicle may be linked to the shooting. Two individuals who were inside the vehicle have been detained and questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Detective Argemis Colome stated that authorities are actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Possible Dispute Led to Shooting
While officials have not confirmed a motive, preliminary witness accounts suggest the violence may have stemmed from an earlier altercation.
According to a witness, the situation may have escalated following a confrontation between two individuals, ultimately leading to gunfire. However, law enforcement has not verified these claims and continues to gather evidence.
Evidence Recovered at Scene
Authorities reported recovering a firearm and multiple shell casings from the scene, indicating an active shooting incident. Investigators are now analyzing the evidence as they work to identify those responsible.

“We have a juvenile victim who has lost his life, and we are committed to finding those responsible,” Colome said.
