2 Arrested After Brawl, Shooting at Dollar Tree Store in San Bernardino County

Two people were arrested after a violent fight escalated into a shooting outside a Dollar Tree store in Victorville, authorities said.

Victorville deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Dollar Tree located in the 14000 block of La Paz Drive just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 14.

According to witnesses, several individuals were involved in a physical altercation inside the store. The confrontation continued as those involved moved outside into the parking lot.

During the fight, authorities say Baltazar Tellez Jimenez, 46, of Adelanto, pulled out a handgun and fired toward the victim and the store’s entrance.

Jimenez then entered a getaway vehicle driven by Wendy Salgado Ronces, 31, of Adelanto, who police say is the registered owner of the firearm. Two young children were also inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Deputies located the vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. Jimenez and Ronces were taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered from inside the car.

Jimenez was arrested on charges of attempted murder and child endangerment and is being held on $2 million bail.

Ronces was arrested for child endangerment and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. She is being held on $250,000 bail. Both suspects were booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto.

Investigators say the motive behind the altercation and shooting remains under investigation. No injuries were reported to the victim or any bystanders.
