DeMotte Man Charged Following Bar Disturbance, Threats Toward Officers

A 32-year-old DeMotte man, Ochirnyam Erdenechimeg, faces several felony and misdemeanor charges after a disturbance at a local bar escalated into threats against law enforcement and a physical altercation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on January 7, 2026, at about 8:23 p.m., an officer with the DeMotte Police Department responded to Holley’s Bar at 804 S. Halleck Street after reports of a male causing a disturbance.

When the officer arrived, he made contact with Erdenechimeg inside the bar and noticed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech. Erdenechimeg admitted he had been drinking. Patrons and staff voiced concerns about his conduct, and he was informed he was no longer welcome at the establishment for the rest of the night.

The affidavit says Erdenechimeg declined several voluntary options to resolve the situation, such as speaking with a mental health professional or leaving with a family member. He later agreed to a preliminary breath test, which showed a BAC greater than .127. Based on the result and officer observations, he was told he was too intoxicated to drive.

As officers discussed plans for a family member to take him home, Erdenechimeg reportedly became verbally aggressive, raised his voice, and walked into Halleck Street, described as a busy roadway. This created a risk to himself, officers, and passing drivers. He allegedly shouted profanities and caused a public disturbance.

According to the affidavit, Erdenechimeg ignored lawful commands, raised his hands, moved toward officers, and continued yelling in the roadway. Officers warned him his actions amounted to disorderly conduct. When they attempted to take him into custody, he actively resisted by tensing his body and pulling away.

During the struggle, the affidavit states Erdenechimeg repeatedly threatened officers, saying he would “beat our fucking ass” and that he would “fucking kill us.” The threats were directed at identifiable law enforcement officers while they were performing their official duties.

Due to his continued resistance, officers deployed a TASER in an effort to gain compliance. Erdenechimeg was eventually placed in handcuffs. Deputies involved suffered minor injuries during the encounter.

Erdenechimeg was evaluated by Keener Township EMS and cleared for incarceration. After being cleared, the affidavit says he again threatened officers, stating he was going to “fucking kill us.” He was then transported to the Jasper County Jail without further incident.
