A head-on crash between two vehicles resulted in one fatality and one injury Friday afternoon in Lawrence County, troopers said.
The crash happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio Route 7 and Township Road 1303 in Proctorville, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a Jeep Compass was traveling eastbound on State Route 7 when it crossed left of center and struck a westbound Toyota Camry head-on.
The Jeep’s driver, identified as 84-year-old Robert L. Ramsey of Proctorville, was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, troopers said.
The other driver, a 60-year-old man from Chesapeake, was driving the Toyota Camry, according to the release.
Troopers said each vehicle was occupied only by its driver.
The roadway was temporarily closed at the scene but has since reopened, troopers confirmed.
