Hit-and-Run Determined to Be Intentional Road Rage Assault, Southern California Deputies Say

A 28-year-old man from San Bernardino County has been arrested after a weekend hit-and-run crash was determined to be an intentional road rage assault, authorities said Wednesday.

The incident was reported around 4 p.m. Sunday in the 6800 block of Avalon Avenue in Yucca Valley, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they found a 24-year-old woman and her two children, ages 1 and 3, standing near their damaged vehicle.

Investigators determined the crash was caused by another driver who fled the scene. “All victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of pain related to the assault,” the department said.

Deputies later concluded that the suspect, identified as Dante Killebrew of Yucca Valley, used his vehicle as a deadly weapon, deliberately ramming the victim’s car during an apparent road rage incident.

“What initially appeared to be a felony hit-and-run incident was later determined to be an intentional and violent act on the part of Killebrew,” the department said.

Killebrew was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
