Teen Boy Injured in Shooting on Far South Side

A teenage boy is recovering in the hospital Thursday morning after being injured in an overnight shooting on the city’s Far South Side.

Chicago police said the shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue in the Riverdale neighborhood.

Officers reported that the 17-year-old victim was standing in a yard when he saw a muzzle flash from a gun and then realized he had been shot.

Police said the teen suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and back. He was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

Investigators have not determined what led up to the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
