Man Fatally Shot, Woman Critically Wounded in Far South Side Shooting

A shooting on Chicago’s Far South Side claimed the life of one man and left a woman in critical condition Monday evening.

Chicago police said three people were sitting inside a GMC SUV in the 8500 block of South Aberdeen Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood around 4:45 p.m. when several offenders approached the vehicle.

Investigators said at least one of the offenders produced a firearm and opened fire on the SUV.

A 37-year-old man, identified as Robert Parker, was shot twice in the head and pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Hospital.

A 44-year-old woman was also shot in the head and was transported to Christ Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The gunfire did not strike a 27-year-old man who was inside the SUV. The offenders fled the scene in an unknown direction, and no arrests have been made.

Area Two detectives are continuing the investigation.
