2 teens wounded in early-morning shooting on South Side

Police said two teenagers are recovering in the hospital after an early-morning shooting on the city’s South Side.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. near an apartment building in the 2200 block of East 67th Street in the South Shore neighborhood.

Officers initially responded to reports of a person shot in the area. When they arrived, they found one victim, a 16-year-old boy, unresponsive near the apartment building.

After locating the first victim, officers canvassed the area and later found a second victim, an 18-year-old, inside the apartment building.

Police said both the 16-year-old and the 18-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators also recovered two firearms at the scene. At this time, the cause of the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
