W.Va. Trooper Rescues Elderly Woman, 10-Month-Old Child from Burning Building

A West Virginia state trooper rescued two people from a house fire in Upshur County over the weekend.

Trooper C.J. Elmore was the first to arrive at a structure fire on Kalafat Street in Buckhannon on Saturday afternoon, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police.

Officials said Elmore entered the smoke-filled home and rescued an elderly woman and a 10-month-old child.

Upshur County EMS and Buckhannon firefighters arrived shortly afterward to provide medical assistance and extinguish the fire, troopers said.

First responders reported that eight people escaped the blaze and no major injuries were reported.
