A woman is recovering in the hospital after a vehicle struck her while she was riding a scooter on the Near North Side.
Police said the crash happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Clybourn Avenue.
According to officers, the 33-year-old woman was traveling through the area on a scooter when a Honda Civic hit her as it continued northwest on Clybourn.
After the collision, the driver of the Honda left the scene, police said.
The woman suffered a knee injury and was transported to the hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.
Investigators are actively searching for the driver involved in the incident.
Editor’s Note: Initial reports stated that the victim was riding a bicycle in the 1600 block of North Clybourn Avenue. Authorities have since clarified that she was riding a scooter in the 1200 block of North Clybourn Avenue when the crash occurred.
