An inmate has died following a fight involving multiple prisoners at United States Penitentiary McCreary, according to federal officials.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons said staff responded around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 to reports of several incarcerated individuals fighting at the high-security facility in Pine Knot.
Prison employees isolated and contained the incident while emergency medical services were called and life-saving measures were performed.
Kenneth Lee, 33, was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Two additional inmates were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. One staff member was also injured and transported for medical evaluation.
According to the Bureau of Prisons, Lee had been sentenced in the Western District of Oklahoma to 112 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He had been housed at USP McCreary since December 2024.
The incident remains under investigation.
