Man Arrested After Road Rage Shooting on I-90 Injures 14-Year-Old

A 52-year-old man is facing felony charges after authorities say he fired a gun during a road rage incident on Interstate 90 in Chicago, injuring a 14-year-old passenger.

According to the Illinois State Police, troopers responded just before 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 18 to reports of a shooting on I-90 southbound near Ogden Avenue.

Police said that during a road rage encounter, Rene Garcia, 52, allegedly fired a weapon at another vehicle. A 14-year-old passenger inside that vehicle was struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The teen was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said Garcia pulled over after the shooting and was taken into custody without further incident.

He has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

  • Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm

The investigation remains ongoing. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
