A man was arrested Wednesday morning after deputies say he brandished a knife while they were attempting to serve paperwork at his home.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Joshua David Saul has been charged with intimidating a public officer or employee by threats or harassment and obstructing or impeding an officer in the performance of official duties.
Deputies said the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. in Alum Creek, when they attempted to serve Saul paperwork at his residence. Authorities allege Saul brandished a knife and fled into a wooded area.
Law enforcement officers, including deputies, police and state troopers, established a perimeter in the woods while a K-9 unit conducted a track. Deputies said the K-9 led officers on a three-mile search before locating Saul.
According to the sheriff’s office, Saul refused commands and advanced toward officers with the knife drawn. Deputies then deployed a non-lethal beanbag shotgun round, which disarmed him and allowed officers to take him into custody without further incident.
