CHICAGO — Five people were shot Wednesday night in separate but possibly related incidents on the city’s South Side, officials said.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, one person was shot near the intersection of 67th Street and Stony Island Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Another person was shot near 69th Street and Harper Avenue in Grand Crossing.
Fire officials also reported that three additional gunshot victims arrived at a fire station in the 1400 block of East 67th Street in Woodlawn, just blocks from the other reported shootings. It remains unclear where those three individuals were shot before seeking help.
The Chicago Police Department said officers initially responded to the 6600 block of South Stony Island Avenue for reports of a shooting near a gas station.
Authorities have not released the conditions of the victims, and no further details were immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
