‘Home Improvement’ Star Zachery Ty Bryan Sentenced to 16 Months in Jail

(NewsNation) — Former “Home Improvement” actor Zachery Ty Bryan has been sentenced to 16 months in county jail after pleading guilty in connection with a 2024 driving under the influence case.

Bryan, best known for playing Brad Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, entered a plea deal with prosecutors and admitted to driving under the influence. He also acknowledged a sentencing enhancement after recording a blood alcohol content of 0.15% or higher — nearly double the legal limit.

According to reports from TMZ and The Wrap, Bryan received credit for 57 days already served.

History of Legal Troubles

Bryan has faced multiple legal issues in recent years.

In October 2020, he was charged with felony strangulation, fourth-degree assault and interfering with making a police report following an argument with his girlfriend. He later pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault, served seven days in jail and was placed on three years’ probation.

In 2023, Bryan was arrested again and charged with fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment in connection with another alleged altercation. He was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation and seven days in jail.

In 2024, Bryan was arrested twice for DUI. He was also arrested in November in Eugene, Oregon, for allegedly violating probation tied to a prior domestic violence conviction.
