CHICAGO — A man wanted in connection with a double homicide and several other violent crimes in Chicago was arrested Tuesday in St. Louis, authorities said.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 35-year-old Muhammad Thomas allegedly burglarized a business in the 3800 block of West 26th Street in the South Lawndale neighborhood on Nov. 8, 2025.
Investigators said that while fleeing the scene, Thomas shot and killed a 25-year-old man and a 63-year-old man.
Police also allege Thomas shot and seriously injured a 26-year-old man in the 1700 block of West Maypole Avenue on the Near West Side on July 28, 2023.
In addition, authorities believe Thomas committed an armed robbery in the 2300 block of West Cermak Road in the Lower West Side neighborhood.
On Feb. 24, 2026, officers with the United States Marshals Service and the Chicago Police Department located Thomas in the 200 block of South Tucker Street in St. Louis.
He was extradited to Chicago and charged with the following:

Two felony counts of first-degree murder

One felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm

One felony count of aggravated battery of a peace officer

Two felony counts of armed robbery/discharge of a firearm

One felony count of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon

One felony count of attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm

One felony count of burglary

Three outstanding warrants
