Second man charged with murder after deadly fight in Perry County

Authorities have charged a second man with murder in connection with a fight that left a man dead earlier this week in Perry County, Kentucky.

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Brian Smith of Hazard, Kentucky was arrested Friday and charged in the death of 27-year-old Ryan Huff.

Huff was found with a gunshot wound to the chest outside an apartment building at the Bubby Combs apartment complex on Darfork Road on Tuesday morning. Deputies had responded to reports of a fight shortly before 10 a.m., Sheriff Joe Engel said.

Another suspect, 43-year-old Danny “Blue” Asher, was arrested Wednesday following a manhunt in Leslie County, Kentucky. He also faces a murder charge in the case.

In addition, 37-year-old Maranda “Kat” Connor of Hazard was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension in connection with the investigation.

Officials say additional arrests or charges could follow as the investigation continues.

A funeral for Huff is scheduled for Saturday evening.
