Man Found Dead on A1A in Fort Lauderdale; Police Investigating Possible Hit-and-Run

Police in  Fort Lauderdale are investigating after a man was found dead early Tuesday along State Road A1A.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 3:30 a.m. reporting a person lying on the ground near the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard.

When emergency crews arrived, they discovered an adult man on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is leading the investigation as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigators are considering the possibility that the incident may involve a fatal hit-and-run crash.

A witness at the scene told CBS News Miami that the intersection has a history of accidents and described it as a dangerous area.

The witness urged anyone responsible for hitting the man to come forward.

Police have not yet released the victim’s identity or additional details as the investigation continues.
